Workshop “Contemporary Social Challenges” by Vologda Research Center on May 18th, 2021

I. International Scientific and Practical Workshop “Contemporary Social Challenges”

On May 18, 2021 (12:00 – 15:30 CET), I. International Scientific and Practical Workshop “Contemporary Social Challenges”, organized by the Vologda Research Center of RAS (http://en.vscc.ac.ru/) and the European School of Social Innovation (https://www.essi-net.eu/), will take place. The topic of the first session will be “Contemporary Social Challenges: Actualization of Global and Regional Social Practices”. The organizers invite everyone to participate in the event!

The main idea of the Workshop is to discuss a wide range of issues related to the features of current and upcoming social development, issues of interaction between the state and society, relevant challenges and threats of our time, transformation of the institutional environment, and promising areas of socio-economic policy. The speakers are leading Russian and foreign scientists, experts and practitioners, and various government officials.

The first session of the Workshop will include a discussion on the role of social practices in the development of local and global society. Issues related to the impact of Industry 4.0 and the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic on society, formation of social innovation ecosystems, development of non-profit organizations and social entrepreneurship, adjustment of the education system to modern reality, and attitude of business and population to new technologies will also be explored. During the session, the reports will be presented by:

Antonius Schröder (Senior Researcher, Member of Management Board of the Social Research Centre at the TU Dortmund  University, Managing Director of the European School of Social Innovation),

Michael Kohlgrüber (Senior Researcher of the Social Research Center at TU Dortmund University),

Antonia Caro-González (Researcher, Director of the International Research Project Office at the University of Deusto (Spain); Scientific Director of the European School of Social Innovation),

Irina Mersiyanova (Candidate of Sciences (Sociology), Head of Department of Economics and Management in Non-Government Organizations, Director of the Centre for Studies of Civil Society and Nonprofit Sector of the NRU “Higher School of Economics”),

Olga Yurkina (Head of the Center for Innovations in the Social Sphere of St. Petersburg), and other prominent experts in the field.
